Christians worship Yahweh, the God of the Bible. Muslims worship Allah, the God of the Koran (Quran). Muslims are of the opinion that the God of the Bible and the God of the Quran is the same God. Many people, including many Christians are also of the opinion that Christianity and Islam worship the same God, only known by different names. The God of the Christians, Yahweh, is, according to the Bible, a God of love. Not a sentimental or emotional type of love, but a love that is a disposition of benevolence. If these two beings are in fact the same God, it means that Allah, the God of Islam is also a God of love, and it will be obvious from a study of his revelation in the Quran. Muslims claim that Islam is a peaceful and peace-loving religion, and many people think and say that Islam is indeed a peace-loving religion. It would be wonderful if that is so. If Islam is a peace-loving religion it will be clear from its books, the Quran and also the Hadith (a collection of the sayings, actions, and customs of Mohammed, recorded by people who lived close to him, and to be followed by Muslims), that Allah is a God of love, and that he expects love and peace-loving behaviour from his followers.
This is then a study to determine whether these two beings are the same person. In this process their respective revelations (the Bible, the Quran and also the Hadith) will be searched in order to, in the first place determine whether Yahweh, the God of the Bible, is in fact, as stated above, a God of love, whether He encourages his followers to be benevolent and peace-loving, whether He expects his followers to force people to worship Him and to fight on his behalf. Secondly to determine from the Quran (Allah’s revelation through his prophet Mohammed) as well as the Hadith (Hadis) whether Allah is a God of love, whether He encourages his followers to benevolent and peace-loving behaviour, whether He expects his followers to force people to worship Him and to fight people on his behalf, and if so, how he wants them to go about it. It will also be determined what punishment Allah prescribes for people who do not worship him and what he expects from his prophet, Mohammed as far as this is concerned.
It is therefore necessary to learn from the Bible what Yahweh, the God of the Bible, expects from people concerning love, peace, sin, punishment, salvation, honesty, war, violence, etc. From the Quran will then also be learned what Allah, the God of Islam, teaches about love, peace, sin, punishment, salvation, the life hereafter, honesty, war, violence, etc. The attributes of these two beings, Yahweh and Allah, will become clear and will then be compared in order to determine undoubtedly whether they are in fact the same God. It goes without saying that if they are the same God their moral attributes will be identical. If their moral attributes are not the same it can be accepted that they are, without any doubt, not the same God. The nature of their moral attributes will give a clear indication which of these two is the true God.
